I grew up in Knoxville, Iowa. In the late Spring, throughout Summer, and into the Fall, I worked at the concessions stands at the racetrack. Every year the largest racing event in Sprint Car racing takes place at Knoxville Raceway. Fans from all over America and Australia, and even a few from New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Canada, come to watch races for a week, or up to two weeks. Once I left for college I had a strong distaste for all things Knoxville. This project was an attempt to go back to this quintessentially-Knoxville event that would every year growing up, suddenly crowd our town with thousands of race fans and try to see it all with new, more appreciative or empathetic eyes.
